JACOB JR, MY JEWISH WORLD. CERNÁ MADONA RESTAURANT. PRAHA-CZECH REPUBLIC
Cerná Madona Restaurant. Celetna 34, Old Town. Praha - Czech Republic.
This establishment is located in the fabulous Cubist building "House of the Black Madonna", designed in 1911, by the most destinguished architect in Czech history: Josef Gocar. Cubist architecture is unique to the Czech Republic and this is one of it's finest examples. The bright, ground floor, interior benefits from huges large windows on two sides, offering views to the surrounding Baroque architecture and passers by.
There is also, a more intimate, cellar dining área adjacent to the open walled kitchen, where guests can see the chef at work. All the fixtures and furnishings are Cubist-inspired-chandeliers, wooden panneling, floor, stairs, tables, chairs, plates and cups. The menu features excellent contemporary, Continental, fare as well as classic Czech favourites. After the meal visit Museum of Czech Cubism on the second floor to round off the culinary and cultural experience.
Shalom! Aleichem.
