Physicist. Born in Ulm, Germany, on 14th March 1879; died in Princeton, New Jewsey, USA, on 18th April 1955. Einstein is regarded as the father of today's philosophical and scientific conception of the world, like Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton before him. As a humanist he courageously fought for world peace.

Einstein went to school in München. When he was 16 years old he came to live in Switzerland, took his school-leaving examinations at Aarau and went on to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich to study mathmatics and physics. His first job was as a "3rd class technical expert" with the Patent Office - today called the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. During this time in Bern, from 1902 to 1909, Einstein published 32 scientific Works. Two of these were among his most importante, published in the annus mirabilis 1905, when Einstein was still only 26 years old: the Special Theory of Relativity and the paper on Light Quanta for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize of 1921.

In 1908 Einstein began his academic career as a lecturer at the University of Bern, and a year later, in the autumn of 1909, he became a professor of physics at the University of  Zürich. In 1911 he went to Praha and in 1912 he returned to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. In 1913 he was appointed to the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin, where, in 1916, he published his General Theory of Relativity, conceived inn Bern. The British expedition undertaken in 1919 to observe the eclipse of the sun confirmed the prognossis stated in this theory and laid the corner-stone of Einstein's international fame.

In 1932 Einstein left Berlin and a  year later he immigrated to  Princeton, New Jersey, USA. At the Institute for Advanced Study he continued to  work on the Unnified Field Theory until his death in 1955.

Shalom! Aleichem.
